Great Pines Named Best Adirondack Resort

Posted on June 6, 2019

Having previously existed as the North Woods Inn, a popular stay for Adirondack travelers, for over 100 years in Old Forge, our newly reopened Great Pines Resort still has the old charm of our predecessor as well as many exciting new features. We are proud to have quickly cemented ourselves as one of the top destinations for Adirondack goers, winning Adirondack Life Magazine’s Best Adirondack Resort for 2019.

The Perfect Adirondack Getaway

Tucked away just off State Route 28 on the shores of picturesque Fourth Lake in Old Forge, our newly renovated resort offers guests the ideal destination to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Great Pines boasts 650+ feet of waterfront property, something no other hotel in the area can say. Panoramic lake views from the lodge, and mountain views from the back make the stay even sweeter.
We are situated in the perfect location to take advantage of the Adirondacks. Just a few miles from the resort are downtown Old Forge and Eagle Bay, which offer many popular dining options. A few minutes east is the Inlet Golf Club, where guests can play a round of golf in one of the most unique settings in the state.

A Place for Adventure

Our location is not only ideal for an authentic Adirondack experience, but it also provides guests with the opportunity to explore everything the region has to offer. With Old Forge often referred to as “the snowmobiling capital of New York,” Great Pines sits right on main Snowmobile Trail 5, and has easy access to the vast trail network in the area.
For the athletically inclined, Great Pines serves as the perfect base camp for skiers and hikers. The slopes at McCauley Mountain are a local favorite, and guests can also trek across thousands of miles of hiking trails. Bald Mountain, the Rondax Fire Tower, Black Bear Mountain, and Rocky Mountain Trailhead are excellent hikes. Great Pines guests can enjoy the water with swimming docks, as well as kayaks and stand up paddle boards.
Furthermore, for those who like regional culture, the surrounding towns host seasonal events filled with local food, drink, and fun. A favorite is the Old Forge Farmer’s market, which runs every Friday from June to the first week of October. Here, market goers can discover locally crafted baked goods, cheese, wine, craft beer, and more.
